Department Profile – Marketing and Strategy

The Department of Marketing & Strategy came into existence in 1995. The department is a constituent of the ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education IFHE (a deemed to be University). Currently, the department has fifty four faculty members involved in teaching, research and academic administration. Forty four faculty (81.5%) are Ph.D. holders while the rest have substantial industry experience. Thirty two scholars have enrolled for the Phd program in the area.

Faculty in the Department teach courses in the BBA, MBA, Executive MBA and Phd programs. The courses in each of these programs is reviewed periodically and modifications incorporated to ensure relevance and rigour. Faculty have the freedom to adopt innovative pedagogies to ensure learning effectiveness. The Case Method is the predominant pedagogy in the MBA program.

Research and Publications

Faculty members in the department actively engage in research and present papers at reputed national and international Conferences. About 84% of faculty publications feature in ABDC and Scopus Indexed journals. 19% research publications are in top tier A* and A category journals. Core areas of research in the department include Place Branding, Consumer Brand Relationships, Marketing Technology, Societal Marketing, Green Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Services Marketing. Faculty have actively contributed to case writing and have received the highest possible recognition at the global level. They regularly involve in Faculty and Management Development programs besides generating internships for students and contributing to institution building activities.

Conferences Organised

The Department organizes a bi annual conference called ICOMBS (International Conference on Marketing and Business Strategy). Nine such conferences have been organized since 2008. In January 2022 the department organized the 9th ICOMBS on the theme ‘Marketing 5.0 – Opportunities and Challenges where 108 papers from India and abroad were presented.
